2nd parallel Greek Turkish – Greek language course, call for interest

Here you can find a chain of parallel Turkish – Greek language courses and cultural – educational actions we offer in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.

The whole project is an initiative taken by the Greek Language and Art Association (www.greekingreece.gr), a small Greek language school for foreigners and focus on breaking the walls of preconceptions and fear, and getting the Turks and the Greeks to know and respect more one the other.

The first action was a parallel language course and it took place on the island of Samos, with the contribution of the prefecture of Samos on August 2009. During 2010 we are going to offer a summer course on the island of Samos (end of August 2010) followed by a second session in Thessaloniki (1-10/9/2010) and a parallel Greek – Turkish language course in North Cyprus (end of the year, beginning 2011). The last action in Cyprus will be co-organized with the cooperation of Side Streets, a local Turkish – Cypriot initiative for education and culture (www.sidestreets.org)

Language courses

The parallel language courses are intended to:
1) Adults, of Greek nationality who wish to start or improve their skills in Turkish language.
2) Adults, of Turkish nationality, who wish to start or improve their skills in Greek language.
3) Adults of any nationality who learn Greek or Turkish.

Funds

We try to keep the courses and actions free of charge for Greek or Turkish and Cypriot citizens. However this may be not always possible. As we try to keep our independence we need some income from our actions. For this reason we charge a fee to participants from other nationalities they wish to participate. Also in some of our actions may be a fee for all.

If you would like to cooperate with us in actions on culture, languages, art or education do not hesitate to contact us.

Urgent! We are looking for the appropriate venue for parallel Greek – Turkish language lessons in Istanbul: 4 seminar rooms for 10 – 15 students, a bigger room for 40 – 50 students and a small office with Internet connection. If are a director of a University department, a representative of an NGO organization, a foundation or even an individual, you own a place as it is described above and you may offer it for the course, please contact us.
